2 quarts water
1⁄2 pound carrots, washed and coarsely chopped
1⁄2 pound carrots, peeled and sliced about 1 inch thick on the diagonal

2 bay leaves
Dash of Celtic sea salt
1⁄4 cup parsley, finely chopped
How to make for Classic Chicken Soup for dogs
Wash the chicken and place it in a large pot with the water, chopped carrots, chopped celery, bay leaves, and salt. Place over medium-high heat, cover, and cook for about 45 minutes, or until the meat starts coming off the bone.
Transfer the chicken to a platter to cool. Cook the broth another 30 to 40 minutes.
When cool enough to handle, remove the chicken meat from the bone and cut into cubes.
Strain the broth and return the strained broth to the pot. Add the sliced carrots and sliced celery.
Cook over medium-low heat until the carrots are easily pierced with a fork. Return the chicken meat to the pot, add the finely chopped parsley, and cook for 5 minutes more before serving. This soup freezes well.
